Closures and Hours - April 2006

The Vera Bracken Library (Medicine Hat Campus) will have some closures and reduced hours in the month of April.

The Vera Bracken Library will be closed:

• Friday, April 14 - Good Friday holiday.
• Saturday-Monday, April 22-24 - Annual maintenance and biannual inventory of collections.

Reduced hours will begin on Tuesday, April 25; hours thereafter will be:

• Monday - Thursday - 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
• Friday - 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
• Saturday - 1:00 - 5:00 p.m.
• Sunday - Closed

E-Journal Holdings Updated

Library Services has updated its e-journal holdings. The latest holdings can be found highlighted in orange text at http://www.mhc.ab.ca/library/ejournals.htm. As ever, all titles are only available onsite at the Brooks or Medicine Hat Campuses.

New Database: ScienceDirect College Edition

Library Services has added ScienceDirect College Edition to its database collection. This academic database contains more than 1800 full-text peer reviewed journals. The journals cover behavioral/social sciences, health/life sciences, and physical sciences (i.e., biology, chemistry, geography, mathematics, physics, etc.).

The database also contains 8 encyclopedia sets that cover the behavioral and social sciences. The encyclopedias include: Encyclopedia of Applied Psychology, Encyclopedia of Information Systems, Encyclopedia of International Media and Communications, Encyclopedia of Language & Linguistics, Encyclopedia of Psychotherapy, Encyclopedia of Social Measurement, Encyclopedia of the Human Brain, and International Encyclopedia of the Social & Behavioral Sciences.

Art Museum Image Gallery Database Demo

Library Services is demoing the Art Museum Image Gallery database until the 30th of March 2006. This database could be an invaluable resource for students taking a Visual Communications related class. The resource covers a broad range of international/multicultural works from ancient/classical to contemporary times.

You can access the database from on campus or at home by clicking here - the database will be at the top of the web browser's window.

Another recently added database is Project MUSE. This scholarly database covers the arts/humanities, social sciences, and sciences. There are nearly 300 full text resources available in the database.
