Keith Walker named CLA President

Congratulations to Keith Walker, Director, Library Services at Medicine Hat College!

At the 65th annual Canadian Library Association (CLA) National Conference and Trade Show, held in Edmonton, Alberta, from June 2-5, 2010, he formally assumed the role of CLA President. Upon accepting the station at the Annual General Meeting (AGM), some colleagues held a quick coronation ceremony, which included a crown.

Keith Walker Returns

He's baaaack . . .

Yes, you read correctly. Keith Walker has returned to Medicine Hat College Library Services to resume his role as Director, Library Services. After a brief stint as Director and Chief Executive Officer at the Lethbridge Public Library; Keith decided that his heart and home belong at Medicine Hat College.

Thanks to Lilian Li, who was acting-director in Keith's absence, for her leadership over the past few months. Lilian will continue in her role as Information and Technology Librarian for Library Services.

Farewell Keith Walker

Today was the end of an era as Keith Walker, Director of Library Services, departed the college after 24 years of service. The Vera Bracken Library played host to a farewell meet-and-greet event that was attended by many dozens of well wishers from the college and community.























We all wish Keith best success in his new position as Director and Chief Executive Officer at the Lethbridge Public Library. He will assume this post on Monday, May 4th.

SPECIAL EDITION - Library User of the Past Two Decades

Library Services is pleased to announce that Keith Walker has been named our Library User of the Past Two Decades. Keith has been the Director of Library Services for the past 24 years, but will soon be departing the institution to be the Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Lethbridge Public Library.

Library Director Departing after 24 Years of Service

The college’s Director of Library Services, Keith Walker, is leaving after nearly 24 years of service as the leader of the library. Keith will assume the position of Director and Chief Executive Officer at the Lethbridge Public Library in May. The Lethbridge Public Library has many exciting initiatives planned for the future, including the opening of a new west side community library.

The college is undertaking a search for Keith’s replacement as the director of the two campus libraries. Qualified candidates wanting to apply for the position may do so by clicking here.

Lilian Li has been named Acting Director of Library Services in the interim.

Congratulations to Keith Walker!

Congratulations go out to Keith Walker, Director of Library Services at Medicine Hat College. Our esteemed leader was elected to the position of Vice-President of the Canadian Library Association (CLA) on this day. The CLA is the national voice for libraries across Canada and represents Canadian libraries internationally. Following his tenure as Vice-President, Keith will assume the role as President of the CLA in 2010 for a one-year term.

In addition to his current role at MHC Library Services, Keith is currently serving as the Chair, Board of Directors for The Alberta Library.
