August Hours: Closures & Holidays

For the month of August, the Vera Bracken Library will be closed on the following days:

• Monday, August 1st – Heritage Day
  
  
• Wednesday, August 24th – College Day

The Brooks Campus Library will not be affected by the College Day closure, but will be closed on Monday, August 1st for Heritage Day.

Canada Day Closure - 1 July 2011

The Vera Bracken Library will be closed on Friday, July 1st, 2011 for the Canada Day holiday. With the exception of that day, the library will operate according to regular hours.

Victoria Day Closure, 23 May 2011

The Vera Bracken and Brooks Campus Libraries will be closed on Monday, May 23rd for the Victoria Day holiday. Both libraries will be open on the Tuesday following the holiday.

Following our extended hours period, which runs from April 1st to 17th, the libraries will change their hours of operation for the upcoming Spring semester. The changes and closures for each library will be as follows:

Family Day Hours/Student Study Break - 21-25 February

The Vera Bracken Library (Medicine Hat Campus) and the Brooks Campus Library will be closed on Monday, February 21^st for the provincial Family Day holiday.

Though classes will not be running for the Student Study Break (21-25 February 2011), the Vera Bracken (Medicine Hat Campus) and the Brooks Campus Libraries will both be open regular hours.

Seasonal Hours: 18 December 2010 - 4 January 2011

Following the conclusion of exams on Friday, 17 December 2010, the libraries will be changing to their seasonal hours of operation.

Starting on Saturday, 18 December 2010 and running until 4 January 2011, the hours for the libraries will be as follows:

VERA BRACKEN LIBRARY

18-19 December 2010: Closed
20-22 December 2010: 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
23 December 2010: 8:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
24 December 2010-3 January 2011: Closed
4 January 2011: 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

BROOKS CAMPUS LIBRARY

18 December 2010-3 January 2011: Closed
4 January 2011: 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

With the seasonal break in operations, comes suspension of e-mail, instant messaging, telephone, and text/SMS information services; all services will resume on 4 January 2011. Any questions in the queues will be resolved then.

Both libraries will resume regular hours of operation on Wednesday, 5 January 2011—the first day of Winter Semester classes.

Remembrance Day Closure - Thursday, November 11th

The Vera Bracken and Brooks Campus Libraries will be closed on Thursday, November 11th in observation of Remembrance Day.

Services for Remembrance Day will begin at 9:30 a.m. (ending at about 10:40) in the Medicine Hat Esplanade Arts and Heritage Centre (401 1 St SE) and will be followed by a ceremony at the city cenotaph at 11 a.m.

The doors to the Esplanade will open at 8:30 a.m. and the theatre will open at 9:15 a.m. There will be no charge for parking at the Esplanade for the Remembrance Day services.

Please note that Friday, November 12th is a Study Day, so regular classes will not be held; however, both libraries will be open normal hours on that day. For more information about the libraries' hours of operation, click here.

Thanksgiving Day Closures - 11 October 2010

The Vera Bracken and Brooks Campus Libraries will be closed for Thanksgiving Day on Monday, October 11^th. Both libraries will be open normal hours on the days preceding and following the 11^th.

September 2010 Hours

VERA BRACKEN LIBRARY

The Vera Bracken Library will return to its normal hours of operation starting on Thursday, September 2nd. The hours for the library will be:

• Monday - Thursday: 7:30 a.m. - 10:00 p.m.
  
  
• Friday: 7:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
  
  
• Saturday: 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  
  
• Sunday: 1:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

The exceptions to these hours in the Vera Bracken Library are as follows:

• Wednesday, September 1: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  
  
• Monday, September 6: Closed for Labour Day
  

BROOKS CAMPUS LIBRARY

The Brooks Campus Library will also return to its normal hours of operation starting on the 2nd of September. Their normal hours of operation will be:

• Friday: 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
  
  
• Saturday - Sunday: Closed

The exceptions to these hours in the Brook Campus Library are as follows:

OTHER SERVICES

The Library Online Agents instant messaging service will be suspended starting on Monday, June 28th. This service will relaunch on Monday, August 23rd.

Text messaging services will continue throughout the summer, but hours will be 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday—closed on the weekends.

IM & Text Services - Seasonal Closures

The Library Online Agents instant messaging service and the text messaging service will be unavailable from December 24, 2009 until January 3, 2010. Both of these services will return to operation on January 4, 2010 for the Winter Semester.

We thank our patrons that have made these online services a success over the past semesters, and we look forward to serving you in the new year.

January 2010 Hours

Following our seasonal break, the libraries will reopen on Monday, January 4, 2010.

The Vera Bracken Library (Medicine Hat) will be operating with reduced hours on the 4th. That facility will be open from 8:oo a.m. until 5:oo p.m. on that day. It will return to normal hours of operation on the 5th, which are:

• Monday-Thursday: 7:30 a.m.-10:00 p.m.
• Friday: 7:30 a.m.-6:00 p.m.
• Saturday: 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
• Sunday: 1:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.

The Brooks Campus Library will also reopen, but with reduced hours on the 4th. They will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on that day. Regular hours of operation will begin on the following day, which are:

• Monday-Thursday: 8:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m.
• Friday: 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
• Saturday-Sunday: Closed
